Agwata Beaders’ Stories

Our Agwata beaders now number over 90!  The beading group has five “work” clusters of about 18 beaders each based on their geographic area.  Because the group is spread out over a wide area of over 6 km from end to end, this enables beaders who live closer to each other to be grouped with those living near them.  Then, when they undertake various work projects, such as tilling new land, they do not have to travel as far for the project.

Agwata is located in Lamwo district which is the northernmost district in Uganda touching the border with Sudan to the north.  Agwata is about 40 miles from the Sudan border.  We selected ten representative beaders from the group, and have included their stories so that you can get to know them.
