Margaret Okwii

Margaret lives in the Njeru area of Jinja with her husband 4 children and 2 other dependents.  Her children range in age from 35 to 16 years old. Her family moved to the Jinja area from Kitgum over 10 years ago because of the war and the Karamajong.  She has been a Pittek member for 2 years and has just recently started doing beading.  She used to have a grinding machine and used it to grind peanuts to make a peanut paste which she sold for income.  But the machine broke and needs a new motor which costs almost $200.  Her husband was laid off from work in 2000 and now is able to get only occasional work for one or two days each month.  Her main problem is paying school fees for the children.
