Namukiibi lives with her mother, five siblings, and 3 other
children in a rented house in Mbiko. Her father died nine years
ago in an accident.
Her mother sells small moonfish in the central Jinja market to

beaded necklaces. Her parents originally were from Mityana but
moved to the Jinja area in 1985.
Namukiibi likes science and social studies, and is usually in
the upper 20% out of her class of 48 students. She likes to play
netball, and helps her mother with cooking. She would like to be
a nurse some day.
Namukiibi must walk 1 ½ miles to school each day. She is
sometimes sent home from school due to lack of school fees.
Annual sponsorship cost is $150 for school fees, uniforms and
basic school supplies. This amount can be paid in one lump sum,
by term at $50 per term. Additional optional amounts up to $300
