Donate Now – Help Build Nursery Classrooms
Help Outreach Uganda (OU, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit) build more classrooms at the Agwata School in northern Uganda. Two more classrooms are needed so that 120 nursery (pre-school) students can have a modern cement block building instead of the current mud and thatch building which is in danger of collapsing.
So far, we have raised over $6000 for this project. We need to raise a total of $11,000 to cover the cost of the one building which houses two classrooms plus some furnishings such as tables and blackboards. This building is desperately needed. In 2012, over 70 younger students were turned away from school due to lack of space. If these young children are not in school, they are often left at home alone while their parents work in the fields all day.
The government is urgently advocating for more nursery schools because they realize it helps students achieve at a higher level when they reach 1st grade. In rural areas, such as Agwata, this is especially important because rural students lag behind students from urbanized areas.
