African Loose Beads

Our beads have personality! Crafters, jewelry designers, fiber artists and other artisans love our colorful African recycled paper beads from Uganda. We have many more beads in stock from what we can show on our web site. If you need special colors or have special requests, please email or call us to discuss your loose bead needs. Each bead is unique. The paper used is a colorful glossy paper, often a magazine paper or wall poster paper. Our beads are eco-friendly, and made of recycled paper. The squiggles and fine markings you may see on the paper is the writing that was on the paper originally.

We've categorized our beads into the five most common categories as shown below. Each category has many listings under it. All beads are hand rolled from paper by our talented Ugandan women who do this to earn a living and provide for their children. Regular size matched beads and our specialized bead color packs are 50 per pack. Multi-color loose bead packs contain 70 beads. Gigantic size beads vary from 9 to 18 beads per pack. It is whatever amount fits in a 4 x 4 inch plastic bag.

In an effort to bring you the highest quality beads, we also include the name of the Ugandan beader who made the beads (this is possible on matched packs of beads only). Our beaders are proud of their beads. We think it shows in their work. Our artisans are paid at a better than fair trade price.

As a nonprofit charity, all profits from our product sales help our 200+ Ugandan beaders overcome poverty. Our newest group of beaders in northern Uganda was excited to begin earning money from the first bead product they learned to make: the beautiful loose beads you see here. We hope our beads make you happy.
