**Sponsorship Amount: $27 per month**
Age: 16; Grade: Secondary 1

Onencan Sam lives with his grandmother who is now 78 years old. She is a member of our Agwata women’s group. His biological mother died in 2014. He has stayed with his grandmother since her death. His father is alive but lives far away in another sub-county. Sam is the second born out of five children. There are also four more cousins whom the grandmother cares for in her household.

Onencan Sam studies hard because he aspires to go to university to become a medical doctor in the future. He feels a responsibility to do something that will help him take care of his siblings and grandmother in the future. He studies very hard and was the top performer in his sixth grade class in 2016.

Sam is very hard working. Besides going to school full time, he does garden work because that’s the only way the family gets food and other basic needs. Once in a while he goes hunting for edible rats which he then sells them to generate funds to buy scholastic materials. In his free time he plays soccer with his friends.

Sam needs one sponsor to pay $325 annually as 1 of 2 sponsors to cover his full year's cost of $650 for secondary school fees, some supplies and other sponsorship benefits. This amount can be paid annually, by term at $108 per term, or via monthly credit card payment of $27 per month. Additional optional amounts up to $300 total may be contributed during the calendar year as a special family gift.
