Omal lives in the village of Agwata located in northern Uganda.  He was abandoned by both of his parents many years ago.  A kind-hearted teacher at the school named Lillian started taking care of Omal beginning in 2017.  His parents retrieved him during the pandemic, but Lillian brought him back to live with her in Agwata because he wasn’t being taken care of and was being mistreated.  He has a younger brother who is being cared for by another individual.  

Despite these hardships, Omal received the highest score in the district for the year end national exam taken by Primary 7 (6th grade) students taken during the fall of 2024.  Omal hopes to become a doctor one day because he likes science.  Social studies is another favorite subject of Omal’s.  

Omal enjoys playing football in his free time.  Omal is disciplined, kind and hardworking.  A sponsorship for Omal would be life-changing for him.  

The annual sponsorship for Omal is $350 which helps to provide his tuition, room and board, uniform, basic school supplies and mentoring by OU staff.  This amount can be paid annually, by term at $117, or via monthly credit card payment of $29 per month. Additional optional amounts up to $300 total may be contributed during the calendar year as a special family gift.
