Home ownership is often an impossible dream for poor people but not for our beaders. With 4 gifts of $500 each, we can cover the down payment on one beader’s new home as part of a home ownership program that Outreach Uganda began in 2012. We have purchased 6 1/2 acres of land and fenced it.
Now, we are in the process of making common area improvements such as bringing water and electricity to the property and constructing a small site building.
Your contribution how is critical to helping complete the final common area improvements and ensuring home construction begins before the end of the year. Donations will be applied to the current most pressing need on our home building timeline unless you specify otherwise. The goal is to get the first block of 10 homes under construction before year-end and help Jinja women move out of the dangerous slums where most of the women currently live. However, we first need to fund the needed infrastructure items including:
- 1. Water tanks, stands plus pump – to bring water to the 40 homes to be built.
- 2. Sewage system – one septic tank needed for each 6 to 8 homes.
- 3. Bringing electricity to the property -$9000 raised, $2500 to go.
- 4. Permanent chain link perimeter fencing and gates – will replace current temporary fencing.
- 5. Grading and minimal road work – amount varies by each home phase.
We are a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization and your gift is tax deductible as a charitable contribution under U.S. tax law. Please contact us if you would like more information on being a “Team Captain” to spearhead fund raising for $6000 of the funds needed for one woman’s home.
